Description

Among the great battles in the Eastern Front during WWII, undoubtedly Stalingrad was the most touching and one of the most decisive for the outcome of the war.

The Soviet plan to hunt and destroy, unit by unit, the 6th German Army lead by Von Paulus was a masterpiece in its design and execution by Zukov. During two and a half months, 22 German divisions were sieged in the city, defending themselves from the Red Army onslaught, street by street and house by house. All the German attempts were
in vain.

Attacks and counterattacks were continuous and the casualties for both sides were very high. Finally, on the 31st January 1943 Von Paulus surrenders: the powerful 6th Army did no longer exist and from then on, the war in the East Front turned around.
