Description

Field of Command is a two-player strategic card game set in the Western European theatre of the Second World War. Each player commands one of three great military powers Britain, the United States, or Germany and must outmanoeuvre, outgun, and outlast their opponent across a contested five-lane battlefield. Victory comes through tactical decision-making: choosing when to advance and when to hold, which lanes to contest, and how to spend limited supply each turn. Each faction plays to its historical character — Germany fields individually superior units, while the Allies win through numbers, combined arms, and depth. A chosen General grants a unique ability for the whole game, and hand-held Environment Events reward careful timing over luck. Across five lanes with front, mid and rear positions, players build a line of infantry, armour and artillery, and win by controlling three or more lanes at once or by reducing the enemy HQ to zero. Includes three 50-card faction decks, ten Generals, and eight scenarios. —description from the designer A note on the artwork: The card art in Field of Command was generated using AI tools and then edited and selected by me. I want to be upfront about that rather than have it come out later. Field of Command is self-published by one person in the UK. Commissioning original illustration for a 150-card game was not financially possible for a first print run, and the alternative was not a hand-illustrated game — it was no game. The design, rules, balancing, scenarios and writing are entirely my own work. I understand this is a real point of disagreement in the hobby, and I'd rather state my position clearly than avoid the question.
