Description

Street dogs is an accessible and thrilling cooperative game that combines urban exploration, canine rescue, and regime subversion for dog lovers, dissidents, and gamers looking for an action-packed movement puzzle. The game features a modular expanding city map, a deck with dozens of unique dogs, a card-based regime opponent, a surveillance evasion risk system, and dozens of custom wooden pieces including dogs, regime patrols, detention centers, pigeons, and more. Regime patrols are kidnapping and imprisoning street dogs across the city. The ancestors of today’s highly intelligent street dogs escaped from military laboratories where the regime experiments with canine augmentations. The descendants of those experiments now roam free and live off the scraps of the city as well as the hospitality of dissident neighborhoods. You and your pack must venture beyond your hideout and explore the city while avoiding surveillance and regime patrols as you search for military labs. Grow your pack, rescue the imprisoned dogs, and lead them to safety before the regime hunts you down and raids your hideout! Each turn, players play a pack card from their hand detailing a dog in the player’s pack. Each dog enables actions such as moving through the city, evading regime patrols or checkpoints, sending pigeons out to scout ahead by placing new city tiles, and hiding out in safehouses. Players may play as many pack cards from their hand as they like in one turn. A player recruits another dog into their pack if they play all of their cards, but the risk they face increases the more they push their luck. After a player completes their turn, they draw and resolve a regime card that manages and deploys regime components across the board. When a player is unable to avoid regime patrols and checkpoints, or pushes their luck too far, they must draw one or more trace tokens from a bag. There are three types of trace tokens: snitch, surveillance, and physical. Snitch tokens drawn when a player is in a dissident area of the city are returned to the bag. When a player accumulates three trace tokens of the same type, they become wanted by the regime. If a wanted player accumulates three trace tokens of the same type, they are hunted down, the street dog hideout is raided, and all players lose. To find the imprisoned dogs, players must explore the city and place new city tiles as they search for regime whistleblowers who can reveal the locations of the military labs. All players win when dogs from all three labs are rescued and returned to the hideout. —description from the developer
