Description

In 1996, an alien spacecraft crashed in the city of Varginha. Inside it there was a creature that became known as "ET de Varginha". Two of Brazil’s leading ufologists hear the news and immediately fly to the scene, when, unexpectedly, there is a citywide blackout! Amid the darkness, the ufologists venture into the city in search of the alien, hoping to find and capture it before the army covers up the whole story! ET de Varginha is a pocket-size hidden movement game mixed with a puzzle of position and exploration. One player controls the alien and must hide in plain sight, moving in secret through the city, but leaving a trail of extraterrestrial slime behind. Other players control the ufologists trying their best to catch the alien with their deduction skills. To do so, they must explore the city, investigate and surround the creature. The game is played in rounds. Every round, the ufologists take 5 actions, then the alien must move 1 space on the board. The game board is a 5x4 grid of cards representing elements of the city that are connected. For instance, 4 river cards divide the city in 2, the 2 parts of the crashed spacecraft are always on opposite sides of the river, and the alien must start the game in one of those spaces. However, these cards start the game face-down for the ufologists and need to be revealed with actions. The ufologists win if they can use a capture action on the space the alien is currently at. The alien wins if they can survive 6 rounds without being captured. —description from the designer
