Description

At the far edge of the known world, where dense woods meet the endless ocean, live the Gerns: a people of restless brilliance and ancient quarrel. Their wars are sudden and savage things, won with a spear from a dark grove or a granary torched in winter. It is from this old tradition that Colo was born. Colo pits the wits of two players against each other in a plane of tight strategy and surprising replayability. Each player's goal is to capture the other's king, and they have a small army of seemingly simple pieces at their disposal. Even the smallest pieces have great potential; not only do they promote to become more powerful, but friendly larger pieces leap over them, expanding players' ability to threaten the entire board. Additionally, each player secretly chooses two unique and powerful pieces, creating an asymmetric but carefully balanced board. Piece by piece, players will position against each other on a small grid where every move might be the one that breaks the game open. Colo is a game in the lineage of Chess, Shogi, and Draughts, but offers an utterly unique experience that leaves players hungry to discover new strategies and combinations. —description from the publisher
