Description
"Save us! We're lost and looking for shelter." Kindred Haven is a fast-paced, strategic card game for 2 to 8 players that pairs tight, tactical card management with long-term foresight. Players compete as rival sanctuary directors racing to rescue displaced animals by building an ecosystem to meet their precise needs. Because every animal is unique, you must deftly tuck, rotate, and manage the multi-edged icon cards in your tableau to create the perfect balance of shelter, food, and forest space. Over 8-single card plays, can you build the ultimate haven and become the most renowned conservationist? Flow of Play The game operates on a tense, simultaneous framework designed to eliminate downtime, even at the maximum player count. Each player is dealt 1 card and plays 4-5 icons by tucking the other half of the card under their existing tableau. Alternatively, a card may be played faced down to place a forest. Forest removes icons from existing placements, but gives boosts to others through adjacency. After 4 rounds, a wave of adoptions resolves; after 8 rounds another wave resolves before the final scoring. Every animal features immediate, turn-by-turn criteria across four need categories: Clean, Active, Tender, and Puzzle. However, animals aren't just about hoarding points—they require precision. Each creature demands a specific Middle Target (the "sweet spot") for adoption: playing too aggressively could miss the mark, so having a spatial backup plan is important! In cases of ties, adoption goes to the habitat with THE MOST of the second category. If STILL tied, then the habitat with the LEAST of the 3rd category wins! At the end of the game, players tally their adoption points, tree accumulation, and sets of food. The player with the best habitat is the winner of Kindred Haven!
