Description

Guards versus Thieves is a quick asymmetric tactical card game of deception and deduction for 2 players. One player takes the role of the Master Thief, mastermind behind a gang of cunning Thieves, while the other becomes the Police Chief, the valiant defender of the city and leader of the Guards. Every turn, three locations are revealed. Both the Master Thief and the Police Chief secretly assign one card to each location. To successfully rob a location, the Thief must match its level. If successful, the Master Thief scores points equal to the location’s level. However, if a Police card of the same level is present, the Thief is arrested instead, and the Police Chief scores points equal to the arrested Thief’s level. Several cards feature special effects that can alter the course of a round, raising or lowering the level of cops and thieves, swapping assigned cards, and disrupting planned actions. The game revolves around managing your squad and resources, predicting your opponent’s moves, and using deception, bluffing, and clever tactics to gain the upper hand. Designed to be simple and easy to learn, Guards versus Thieves focuses on tense mind games, quick decisions, and highly interactive gameplay. Despite its accessible rules, the game offers deep tactical possibilities and rewarding strategic play for both sides. —description from the publisher
