Description

Giants' Causeway: Race to the Sun is a strategic card-and-peg race game inspired by Cribbage, featuring custom scoring systems, variable player powers, and dynamic player paths. Using a unique 36-card deck divided among families and clans with a distinctly Irish feel, players compete to advance their pegs across a winding 153-space track toward the final Sun peg. Players score points both during play and during end-of-round hand evaluation by creating family sets, reaching key totals such as 11 and 19, building flushes, and managing special card abilities. Unlike traditional Cribbage, scoring focuses on matching card families and hand composition rather than numeric pairs and runs. Each round begins with a two-stage card draft that creates shifting tactical decisions and hidden information. Players also choose Path cards that grant unique powers and can be swapped during play through special card combinations and strategic board positions. As players approach the final stretch, all individual routes converge into a tense single-lane race up the Giants’ Causeway itself, where timing, hand management, and scoring efficiency determine the winner. Designed for 2–4 players, with partnership play supported at 4 players. —description from the designer
