Description

Creativity beats vocabulary in Acrosticism. Players reverse engineer phrases from Word Cards to match revealed Theme Cards. If you can read, you can play. In each turn, one player serves as the Judge while the others create backronyms from the letters of a Word Card in their hand. The goal is not to search for dictionary words. Players build a phrase that fits the theme using the letters they have available. How It Works The Theme: Flip a Theme Card, anything from "a terrible name for a new perfume" to "a motto for surviving a bad Monday." The Challenge: Acrosticize a Word Card into a backronym that fits the theme. Players have 2 minutes. Each letter becomes the start of a new word. The Verdict: The Judge selects their favorite entry. The most creative, hilarious, or fitting backronym wins the turn. Why It Is Different No drawing. Every Word Card played is gone for good, so players manage a shrinking hand across the game. Simple to start. If you can read, you can play. Fast paced. Everyone acrosticizes at the same time, and turns stay tight at roughly 5 minutes per player. High variety. With 53 Theme Cards and 126 Word Cards, Acrosticism offers 6,678 unique combinations. —description from the publisher
