Description

On the Western Front of World War I, Brutal trench warfare has led to the untimely death of hundreds of thousands of young men. as a result, rather than going "Over the Top," you are tasked with tunneling under no-mans-land to sap the enemy trenches while preventing your opponent from doing the same to you. The Underground War is a tense 20 minute tile laying duel, players have their own board referencing the space underneath no-man's-land and the rulebook doubles as a screen between the players so they cannot see each others boards. Players will alternate turns where they will either Listen for the enemy OR may exchange tiles in their hand, followed by the player playing two tiles to add to their tunnels or place a Bomb tile to detonate the enemy tunnels or sap one of the 3 sections of enemy trenches. When the player has completed placing two tiles they draw their hand back up to 7 tiles which lets the opponent know it is their turn. Players earn 1 point per enemy tile destroyed by detonation and 3 points for each section of enemy trench sapped, the game is over when a player has reached 10 victory points. —description from the designer
