Description

Answer the call. Push Deeper, pay the price, outplay your Rivals, & claim the Crown, before the Island claims you. Beyond the edge of every honest map lies Treasure Island. An island of jungle and ruin. Of forgotten temples and buried gold. Of pirates who vanish, or return as legends. You are rival Captains chasing that dream. Each Voyage you sail closer. Each step inland tempts fate. Turn back early, sail away and keep your coins. Push deeper, and grow rich. But beware. The seas grow harsher. Supplies grow costly. The Rising Tides spare no one. The Island remembers. It remembers greed, bravery, and cowardice. Only one Pirate Captain will command the waves. Only one will be crowned Pirate King. Each Voyage is a round of pirate poker with shared danger. The Island reveals five shared cards, one in each Island Zone (Shoreline, Jungle, Ruins, Cavern, and Treasure Chamber). These are the same as community cards in Standard Texas Hold’em Poker. Each Captain holds two hidden Crew Cards (your hole cards). At key moments, all players simultaneously and secretly choose to either Push Deeper or Sail Away. If you Push Deeper, you must pay the Rising Tides cost. If you Sail Away, you preserve what you have and live to sail again. If you reach the Showdown, you form the best five-card poker hand from seven total cards: your two Crew Cards and the five Island Zone cards. There are two chests. The Treasure Chest is the main prize, won by the best hand. The Scavenger Chest is the runner-up prize for the second-best hand, plus driftwood, salvage, and the spoils of caution. Both matter. The Island makes sure of it. —description from the designer
