Description

The Second Franco-Trarza War in what is now Mauritania reached a critical turning point during the Battle for Leybar Bridge on April 21, 1855. While the main French forces were away, Emir al-Habib launched a surprise assault on the colonial capital of Saint-Louis with over 1,000 warriors, only to be heroically repelled by a tiny garrison of 14 French marines holding a fortified tower. The Battle for Leybar Bridge is an engaging dice manipulation and placement puzzle for 1 player. Take the role of Sgt. Henri Brunier and his garrison of 13 soldiers as they hold their outpost against the thousand-strong Trarza army. Can you repeat history and stop the Trarza army from reaching Saint-Louis? Each round four enemies approach. Use your small dice pool and tactical abilities to defeat enemies, bolster morale, and protect the tower. When the moment is right, use your cannon die as a multiplier to even the odds. If you survive to the end of the deck, the Trarza army retreats. Manage your limited resources wisely to face overwhelming odds. Simple rules and straightforward mechanics combine with tricky decisions to make a challenging puzzle playable that fits in your pocket and can be completed over a cup of coffee.
