Description

Otani is an abstract, two-player strategy game of positioning, momentum, and strategy played on a hexagonal board. Each player commands a small set of unique pieces, each embodying a philosophical virtue—such as Strength, Balance, Wisdom, and Spirit—granting powerful spatial abilities that push, pull, swap, spin, or teleport pieces across the board Players take turns performing two actions with different pieces, carefully combining movement and special abilities to manipulate the battlefield. Victory is achieved by either escorting the Rock of Ruin into the opponent’s village or safely returning both Rocks of Salvation to your own, creating constant tension between offense and defense With no randomness and fully open information, Otani emphasizes foresight, precise positioning, and creative use of cascading interactions. Simple rules support deep, emergent tactics, making each match a focused duel of minds where a single move can shift the balance of the entire board. —description from the designer
