Description

Each turn, players analyse the Footprint tokens to determine if the Beast of Gévaudan has passed through one of the four terrain categories: River, City, Forest, or Dragon Patrol. The clues gathered allow them to confirm or eliminate terrain spaces to gradually locate its lair. The first player to place their trap on the exact spot wins the King's bounty… unless the Beast is the ultimate winner. The game offers a Standard mode, ideal for discovering the mechanics and getting started with the game, and a Historical mode, for experiencing the full Gévaudan hunt. Between 1764 and 1767, the Gévaudan region was the scene of a series of mysterious attacks attributed to a ferocious creature, larger and faster than a wolf. Despite the hunts led by peasants, nobles, and the royal army, the Beast long eluded its hunters. From Marie-Jeanne Vallet to Jean Chastel, several figures claimed responsibility for its killing, without ever fully revealing its origins. Even today, the mystery remains: a fearsome animal, a human conspiracy, or a legend born of fear?
