Description

RZHEV: The Front Collapses 1942 covers the epic and forgotten battle in its first month. It was during this time the Russians north of Vyamza (this battle is depicted in Red Descent 1942) were in dire position (just like at Vyamza) as Russian forces busted through defenses west of Rzhev with the 29th and 39th Armies. The 29th was ordered to take the city, the 39th moved much further south to cut the rail road, so critical to German supply (it ran through Vyamza). The other four armies would also attack from the north and east flanks forcing the German line to break in areas. As the situation grew dire, Hitler finally relented to allow a limited withdrawal to the Rzhev line. That alone was precarious to perform. The Russians were able to cut the rail line at times but they also faced the threat of being trapped also. Game scale is 3.5 miles a hex, regiments/brigades, one 11x17 map, rules. The German must watch his dwindling ammo and fuel, be careful in withdrawal and defend Rzhev at all costs! —description from the publisher
