Description

GRDNN is a 2 player abstract strategy game, and the fourth in a series of "map reduction" games after VLKNO, ICBRG, and PAWND. In this game you play as a child who forgot to get a gift for mother's day. You decide to take flowers from a nearby garden to make arrangements she will enjoy; the local groundskeeper however attempts to block you from taking flowers. The game is played on a 7 x 7 Garden grid, and uses 7 Flower tokens in 7 different colors as well as 16 mini Scoring cards. Each player has a single pawn which they move on their turn to collect flowers. The Groundskeeper is represented by a neutral pawn that is moved by each player on their turn. On your turn you will: Move your pawn 1 or more spaces in a straight line in any direction through spaces containing no other pawns Collect a flower token from your space if there is one present Move the Groundskeeper pawn 1 or more spaces in a straight line in any direction through spaces containing no other pawns Optionally, you may take one Scoring card if you have the required flowers to complete it Play continues until: All flowers have been claimed, or All cards have been claimed, or Both players take a turn one after the other in which they do not collect a flower At the end of the game, you total your points from your scoring cards as well as 1 point for each flower in your supply you did not assign to a card. Whoever has the most points wins, with ties going to whoever collects the "7 of a kind" card, then to the white player (second player). —description from the designer
