Description

Night Strike: 418 Squadron RCAF is a solitaire World War II board game where you command a de Havilland Mosquito FB VI on night intruder missions over Nazi-occupied Europe. You control both pilot and navigator across a 30-mission campaign between June 1943 and June 1944, recreating the daring operations of the Canadian 418 “City of Edmonton” Squadron. Each mission begins with historical mission cards drawn from real operations. You will manage navigation, fuel, altitude, and ammunition while confronting enemy aircraft, airfields, trains, and convoys. A unique escalation system models German alert levels, while limited ammunition and fuel force tough choices. Combat is resolved using a card-driven system combined with dice checks, with hazards such as debris strikes, stress, and catastrophic failures. Players can earn promotions, decorations, and medals (up to the Victoria Cross) as their crew survives and achieves success. Victory is measured through accumulated VP, with ratings from Poor to Outstanding. The game integrates historical accuracy, immersive narrative, and tense push-your-luck gameplay. —description from the designer
