Description

This ruleset simulates battles in the period of 3000 BC to roughly 750 AD, What historians call Antiquity. Sumeria, Babylon, Egypt all vied for dominance in the Fertile Crescent. Greek city states fought each other and others in order to control the Eastern Mediterranean. Carthage and Rome battle for the Western Mediterranean. Rome came out on top and dominated large parts of Europe as well as all the lands spanning Mare Nostrum. Battle was pushed to the edges of the Empire until the so-called barbarian armies swept Western Europe. Honour was an important ingredient of ancient combat. In order to obtain it, one had to perform brave deeds in battle. And, to have something to show for it. Prisoners were a major part in every campaign. Not only for ransom, but also to plough the conquered fields.
