King's Whist

Description

King’s Whist is a interactive scoring two-player variant of German Whist that turns tradition upside down. Instead of the highest card winning each trick, the lowest card of the lead suit claims victory, making timing and restraint more important than brute strength. Across two phases, players first draft their hands by competing for cards from a shared stock, then battle trick by trick for Glory Points. At the center is the Humble King of Hearts, a card unlike any other: when humbled by a Two, it becomes the lowest value, yet wins automatically with greater reward. King’s Whist is fast, family-friendly, and rich with symbolism: the least becomes the greatest, and the King who humbled Himself is exalted. —description from the designer
