Description

Call the Doctor is a print & play game where players step into the role of a surgeon and perform challenging operations. Each game is built around medical scenarios inspired by specific cases – for example, removing a brain tumor. The gameplay combines several mechanics: action pool management, dice allocation, and drawing. The surgery is carried out step by step: anesthesia, incision, removal of the lesion, suturing, and awakening – each stage introduces different mechanics and requires careful decision-making. The game is largely based on real surgical procedures, medicines, and instruments, and aims to be as realistic as possible. Players have access to a set of resources, including: Medicine Card Tools Card Patient Status Sheet Operation Sheet A key element of the game is the proper use of medicines. Every drug influences the patient’s condition in unique ways – for example, raising blood pressure while simultaneously reducing blood clotting. The duration and difficulty of the surgery depend heavily on the patient’s status. At the beginning of each turn, a Status Card is drawn, modifying specific indicators. In addition to performing surgical actions, players must also counteract these ongoing effects to keep the patient stable. You must always bear in mind that you have a limited number of time points at your disposal to finish the procedure. Call the Doctor offers a unique mix of strategy and thematic immersion, turning every operation into a tense balance between precision, timing, and resource management. —description from the publisher
