Description

Elder Space is a solo dark space exploration game where you play as an investigator sent to the most remote corners of the grimdark universe through spatio-temporal rifts. Every turn you choose from three cards, seeing images only: one card to discard, one to put on the bottom of the deck, one to play. You make your choices, gathering points of Failure on your journey, which you will weigh against points of Success to see if your people will take you back home, or if they leave you far from your galaxy as an expendable, a failed experiment. As you learn to remember which image hides what danger or benefit, the game changes from exploration more into planning and strategizing. The game consists of 90 tarot-sized cards, from which you take 60 random ones for each session. Pen and paper is also needed to track the character's progress, acquired statuses, and equipment. The mechanics are a variation on those of Doom Pilgrim.
