Description

Pātaahua is a bilingual strategy game set in pre-colonial Aotearoa. You get to play as the rangatira (chief) of a hapū (sub tribe), tasked with building the most magnificent pā (fortified village) in the land. You’ll send your people to gather resources, build constructions (like whare, waka and defences), make artefacts (like tools, korowai and weapons) and gain the deep knowledge of tohunga. Your goal is to have the most mana (i.e. the most points) by the end of the game. Along the way, players need to gather, trade and spend their resources wisely to be sure they can feed their people and show manaaki to other hapū. Central to the game are the cultural values of kaitiakitanga (environmental guardianship), manaakitanga (hospitality) and mana tangata (power and status). —description from the publisher
