Description

The Adventurers: The Temple of Chac is a exciting, push-your-luck adventure game where players take on the roles of rival treasure hunters exploring a dangerous, ancient temple deep in the Guatemalan jungle. Dedicated to Chac, the Mayan god of rain and thunder, this temple is filled with priceless artifacts...and deadly traps. Players explore the temple by rolling dice, to gather treasures and unique artifacts dedicated to different Mayan gods. They must navigate hazards like lava rooms with hidden trap tiles, shifting crushing walls, rapids that can sweep them away, and a massive rolling boulder that steadily advances, threatening to trap them inside forever. The more treasure they carry, the fewer actions they can perform, making greed very dangerous. The goal is to escape the temple alive with the most valuable collection of treasures. Only those who can balance risk and reward, avoid injuries, and outsmart both their rivals and the temple’s traps will come out as the greatest adventurer. —description from the publisher This new edition of The Adventurers: The Temple of Chac is part of a 3-game collection that uses the same system and has complete compatibility of adventurers and their starting gear. An entirely new Action System where players do not only roll their own dice, but assign them to specific actions. A new encumbrance system that still penalizes players for being too greedy, but never results in them completely skipping their turn. Zotz’s Cave tunnel, dedicated to the God of the bats. Adventurers can find Zotz’s treasures when searching but may also encounter vampire bats and large, venomous spiders that have made their home in the cave. The removal of character death/player elimination from the core rules except at the very end of the game. A new lockpicking system that uses bag pulls instead of dice rolls. The addition of being able to steal treasures from the opposing adventurers. A new scoring system that accounts for a type of set collection as well as for wounds and injuries.
