Description

Brazil, 1922. In the harsh and unforgiving backlands of the caatinga, abandoned by the government, survival depends on strength, courage, and the right alliances. It is here that the age of the Cangaço begins. Armed bands roam across the Brazilian Northeast, raiding villages, farms, and towns while negotiating with powerful landowners, relying on local supporters, and constantly evading the government's police forces known as the Volante. Feared by some and admired by others, a handful of cangaceiro leaders became legends whose names still echo across Brazil. In Terra do Sol, each player commands a cangaceiro band competing to earn the greatest reputation over the course of eight rounds. Your goal is not simply to amass wealth, but to build a legacy that will be remembered for generations, whether through bravery, brutality, or cunning. Throughout the game, your followers are assigned to different locations on the board to recruit allies, acquire weapons and equipment, expand your influence, gather intelligence, fulfill contracts, and prepare your band for daring raids. Every decision is a balance between preparation and opportunity, as the richest targets attract rival gangs while the relentless Volantes steadily tighten their pursuit. Each round, players take turns placing their followers on available action spaces. Once everyone has committed their gang members, the chosen actions are resolved, allowing each band to prepare for the raid phase. This is when your equipment, allies, resources, and careful planning determine your success. At the end of the round, the drought grows harsher, the police close in, and a new cycle begins. After eight rounds, the band whose exploits have earned the greatest reputation will become part of the folklore of the Brazilian backlands. —description from the publisher
