Description

Test de Tijd ("Test of Time") is a Dutch history game developed specifically for educational purposes. Inspired by games like Timeline, Vroeger Later, and Anno Domini, research was conducted to explore how this game could be effectively used in education. In Test de Tijd, players can play in various setups using a 'flip & check' mechanism. They are tasked with placing historical events or people in the correct chronological order. After placing a card, they flip it to see whether it has been placed correctly. Players can construct a full timeline, sort cards by historical era, or group them based on key characteristics of a specific period. The game can also be used to spark classroom discussions on sensitive topics such as slavery, colonialism, and the ethics of warfare. The images were created by using AI. Though this is controversial, as a small publisher in a niche (educational games) we saw no other solution. The images were designed to create the impression that they are from Hollywood style movies. This way we want to attract the students to our game. Also consistency throughout the game was a major factor. —description from the designer
