Norsewind

Description

The year is 793, and the Northumbrian coast burns. The attack on Lindisfarne was but the first strike — more raiders will follow. As the rulers of Wessex, Mercia, Northumbria, and East Anglia, you must prepare your kingdom for the coming storm. Fortify your defenses and expand your kingdoms with new cities — but take care as the more you expand, the more you attract Vikings to your kingdom. Will you emerge as the strongest realm, ready to stand against the Viking onslaught, or will your lands fall to fire and steel? The fate of Anglo-Saxon England rests in your hands. Norsewind is a tableau-building game. Each turn, you pick a card and add it to your growing kingdom, that is, your tableau. Place it cleverly to earn rewards. Gather helpful followers and upgrade your castles because the Vikings are coming, and they are not here to make friends! At the end of the game, you score each row in your tableau but only if your defense is stronger than the power of the Viking attack. —description from the publisher
