Description

Deque is a trick-taking game for 3-5 players with a twist: You can only play the cards in the left- or right-most position in your hand, and you may not re-order the hand you were dealt. Players are dealt a hand of cards from a standard 52 card deck and must place a bid for how many tricks they expect to win. Then, throughout the hand, players are either forced to follow from the ends of their hand, or make the choice to discard from one side of their hand until they hit a card they can follow with, all in the effort of hitting their bid. Deque is a game of constraint and compromise. It is named after the "double-ended queue" data structure, which is pronounced like "deck [of cards]". Deque was first published in the You Can Play These Games with Cards compendium. —description from the designer
