Description

Oniria is an immersive, asymmetrical trick-taking game built around an initiatory dream journey. One player takes the role of the Soñadora (the Dreamer), while the other players embody the Sombras (the Nightmares). The game unfolds along a symbolic path — the Senda — which structures each round and defines the constraints of play. These constraints are known in advance, turning every round into a game of anticipation, misdirection, and careful reading of intentions. The Soñadora plays alone against all. The Sombras must cooperate to block her progression, yet they score individually, creating a constant tension between alliance and rivalry. Power is deliberately uneven: success depends less on optimization than on timing, coordination, and reading the table. Players take turns embodying the Soñadora across several rounds. When all players have faced the dream, the one with the highest total score emerges victorious. Inspired by Mesoamerican and Aridoamerican conceptions of dreaming and initiation, Oniria does not aim to reproduce folklore literally, but to translate symbolic journeys and inner trials into a tense, strategic card game. —description from the publisher
