🤝 Inclusive design Inclusive design is separate from a game’s queer labels. It marks games whose design is deliberately inclusive even when not queer-themed: romance or marriage mechanics with no gender constraint, character creation without a forced gender binary, gender-neutral rules language, or table safety tools. Each marker shows where we found it.

  • Safety tools (X-card, lines & veils, session zero)
    According to the game’s rulebook
“Lines and Veils is a tool for setting boundaries around topics that players do not want included in gameplay.”

Description

This is a digital/online LARP (Live Action Role-Playing) game about those middle-of-the-night moments when you hop into a call or a chat with a friend who’s going through a lot. Offer advice, provide distractions, be a listening ear, sneak into side chats to detangle details that confuse you, and generally try to be there for your friend (even when you’re not sure if you’ll be much help). Explore the awkwardness, tenderness, resentment, care, and many other assorted expressed and suppressed emotions of a friend group of characters who are doing their best in the face of mundane and supernatural stressors. This LARP was originally written as part of the 2022 Golden Cobra Challenge, and can also be found on the Golden Cobra site here. I drew on the Golden Cobra competition ingredients of Reflection and Midnight, as well as my own and friends' experiences of supporting each other via late night conversations about gender, relationships, and mental health.
