Description
Attention Seekers Attention Seekers is a game about being a Hero — with a capital H — for the people, earning their love and respect, and using the power of those relationships to fight the forces of evil and oppression. If you like rock operas, this is the kind of magical realism for you. Become the underdog hero fighting with the powers of hope and friendship that you've always dreamed of! This is just a "preview" version with a sneak peek at some of the rules and an example Playbook, but the full thing is nearing completion! I've included a "template" Playbook in the downloads that breaks down all the bits and has a sparks notes version of all the rules baked in. It's also an example of what my character keeper that'll come along with the final game looks like! The Agenda This game is by, about, and for people who are marginalized or otherwise downtrodden in this society— queers, LBGTQIA/MOGAI folks, POC (including/especially BIMPOC), disabled folks, people who live in poverty. You get the idea. We're the people who need a hero to look up to, to rescue us, to make a change in the world. I want this game to empower those who play it, and those who watch others play it, to become the hero that they (and/or their peers) need. I want this game to give people hope, to give people the space to dream big dreams, to feel like they have the power to make a difference. The world is ugly and bleak so much of the time, and we deserve to make a space for ourselves in this living dystopia where we can thrive and dream and love each other. Inspired By... The entirety of this thing is inspired by and based on the music of Felix Hagan (and The Family). Every song they've put out has been gloriously weird, queer, kinky, and proud to be all of those things. His music truly makes me feel like I can take on the world. I'm just a weird little disabled nerd who can't actually do much world-taking-on, though, so I figure the next best thing is using my one niche talent to put something out into the world that might inspire others who can. Thanks, Felix, for your enthusiastic buy-in to my weird little fan project, and hopefully I can get this thing finished while your new album is still fresh off the press!
