Description
Whatever toxin changed you left you almost human, separated from perfection by the merest scraps of genetic code. But that was enough to make you a species of one, an aberration, never meant to see the sun. If you were a real monster, you wouldn’t begrudge humans their effortless beauty. You could hate them unreservedly, without hating yourself for all the little ways you resemble them, just barely not right. It wouldn’t hurt so much to hear them laughing, or to see them flinch as you approach, terror and disgust in their bright, unblemished faces. You’re almost human, and you wish you weren’t. Isolated, vengeful, insecure, daring. The Mutant is alienated from their community by a bad reputation they can’t shake. They play the freedom of their position to the hilt, but the sense of exclusion it breeds means rejection hurts them more than other people.
