Description

CHOKE. carries content warnings for graphic violence and other potentially disturbing content. In CHOKE. you'll play as "corporate knights," licensed killers, spies, and saboteurs on company payroll. Your employer, Sullivane Allworks, values you for your capacity to kill and be killed in pursuit of profit maximization. You sell this value to Sullivane, and Sullivane pays back a small portion by providing you the means to eat three warm meals a day, give or take, and sleep in a bed under a roof most nights. Don’t take it for granted. Your dreams are warm and red. A bullet rips through rib and lung. A blade cleaves through neck and spine. You dream of choking on blood. Most nights it’s your body being fed to the machine. But on good nights, it’s Arthur fucking Sullivane’s. The rules are GM-agnostic with a built in campaign structure that only ends when you kill your own CEO or die trying. Every piece of you and your kit is expendable and consumable, and you'll churn through gun after gun and dollar after dollar as you struggle your way out of debt and into that penthouse office, knife in hand. On the job, you're capable and deadly. When you do a Task, you succeed. The only question is how much of your equipment you Risk to get what you want, and how much of it Breaks. The bigger the die (d4, d6, d8, or d20), the more likely you'll get to use that Asset again, but the more valuable space it takes up too. All you’ve got to survive is your own meat and a backpack, filled with guns, trauma, debt, and loot. Your business relationships, personal devotions, guns, and loot alike are placed square-by-square in a grid-based inventory. When you kill other knights, you carry the trauma in your inventory too, and with less room for life-saving equipment, that might just kill you. Luckily, the Corpsman can cut away that guilt for you, at the small cost of one of the things you care about most (and a few thousand dollars). Work jobs for Sullivane Allworks. Take bounties on the side from their competitors. Build up an arsenal, build up favors. When you think you’re ready, take a job against Sullivane itself. Kill Arthur Sullivane, or die trying.Check out Cult.Exe's two-part actual play for a taste of the game: Image is a digital mockup and may not be representative of final product.
